Mr. Haslam
This week's featured vid on StrangeNotes.com is Chris Haslam's Stupid Trick Tip from the Oz Fest DVD. Pretty goofy and pretty crazy at the same time. Watch out for the diarrhea and puke... looks like someone had a good night!

oh wow...
Bryce at SkateDaily.net has some sick early skateboarding finds. These rarities were hard to come by before the advent of things like YouTube, which is now owned by Google.

Route 66 on 9-13-06?
So I'm wondering if it was midnight last night in Arkansas when the team van was pulled over, discovering the fact that I had forgotten to check to see that a copy of the insurance and registration were in it before I released it to Emmanuel and Rhino.

Amongst the last minute tune up, purchasing of 2 new tires, and waiting for the alignment to be done I completely spaced it. At least it was just a ticket and those guys were on their way because apparently when they ran the plates the VIN # didn't match and they could have just impounded the thing and arrested someone. Apparenlty there weren't any other shenanigans going on at the time either. Good job guys!

no biggie
For a long time I've been anti as far as sponsoring kids under 16 but recently at the Tim Brauch Memorial Contest there was this 10 year old named Curren Caples that was pretty amazing - style wise too! I noticed (as I normally do in this case) that he was riding some weird trucks. Now here's where it gets tricky cuz I had to hold myself back a little, ponder if he's just riding them for free and wants to ride indys or if he just doesn't know... I mean the kid is 10 right? Anyway long story short I just decided to ask him about his trucks. "Navigator's" he said, all bummed. Then I asked if he'd want to ride Indys and he completely lit up for a second, then acted all cool, "yeah that'd be realy cool" he said.

Rails, flip tricks, grinds, big airs, vert ramps, bowls, NO BIGGIE.

I'm even impressed with the song!

6 years until he can legally drive a motor vehicle huh? Weird.

Koston's OK folks
Rumors spread last night and this morning that Eric Koston was killed in a car accident according to news souces...

Indy TM Lance Dawes confirmed this morning that Koston is alive and well. Who knew if the news story was real or not as it is way too easy to start your own internet rumor these days with spoofs and parodies floating around everywhere! This apparently is a Fake A Wish. Pretty lame if you ask me...

a week's work
So Navs (I mean Death Lazer) and Hewitt were here Tuesday through yesterday... Darren's top 5 statements were:

1] I'm having a great time
2] Keith ordered a "last beer", slammed the whole thing, crushed the can in his hand and threw it down on the floor. (total exageration that turned into me biting the can open, shotgunning the beer, crushing it on my forehead, and throwing it at the bartender. I actually just ordered a beer, drank it, slightly crushed the can and put it up on the bar)
3] I think I'm going to make myself puke again
4] I love my stuff
5] I'm more than a team manager

Those guys have to be the most enteraining couple... Peter is a crack up and Darren exagerates everything.

Haslam is here now and last night after Whaley took him to Derby, we skated out back at NHS for a while. Ron and Chris played SKATE on the quarterpipe... it was close but I think Ron might have taken it in the end. They good...

My weekend watch is Lizard's Checkin' In from the last SN vid... again. He's on tour with Muska and someone else right now... He was in Utah last weekend and left Navarrette an insane voice mail at 5:45 in the AM... severely altered mind, talking about everything green and vampires and stuff. Death Lazer saved the message and played it for us while he was here.

Emmanuel Guzman, Chet, Alfaro, and a bunch of other dudes are on a Route 66 tour right now in the NHS team van. Rhino is covering it for an upcoming Thrasher and Buddy Charnowski (sp?) is covering it for Fuel TV.

update #21,000,000
So as it seems, it's tough as hell to muster up the mind set of updating the quoteunquote blog everyday. So I find tidbits and interesting junk to supply my many devoted readers with mere minutes of entertainment.

Oh there's so much to tell that I sometimes get overwhlemed with info of the cranial nature... like for instance the Tim Brauch Memorial contest results and photos or the upcoming Damn Am contest in Costa Mesa sponsored by Independent Trucks or all the tradeshow drama that transpired here over the last month. Maybe I should clue you into how freakin' sick Raven Tershay is getting on his wheeled device now powered by Creature and Indy or that Peter Hewitt and Darren Death Lazer are coming to town tomorrow... or maybe it should be about Eric Koston and his new Indy signature low truck or maybe it should just be a bunch of text that you read that makes you want to go skateboarding. Any way you look at it though, text is text and anyone can tell you it's just a bunch of bullshit. Decide for yourself and go skate cuz you like it and because you want to... Don't let me tell you what to look at or who to like or dislike. It's Time to Grind!
