AA2006
The 1st Active Am invite contest went down yesterday. David Loy won the thing. He just won Damn Am too so watch out for some serious youth marketing action featuring his classic Cali, almost Spicoli like mug in upcoming issues of everything with features on Fuel TV, EXPN, etc., etc. Nick Dompierre got second, and Tony Cervantes third. Marquis Preston won the best trick contest.

neat neat neat
Since I haven't posted anything in a while and don't really have any skateboard related news, I thought I'd share my stoke on The Damned with this video of their performance of Neat Neat Neat in 1977 on UK pop show Supersonic.

baby Jordi's So Psyching in SoCal
So here's the slideshow from our So Psyching van tour to Damn Am Costa Mesa. Jordan from Santa Cruz Skateshop was our official trip photog since my camera was broken. Some s#it is out of order and there's not really a conclusion but what the hell... Check back soon for the Strange Notes "@" Damn Am video article or if you want official coverage of the event go to DamnAm.com where you'll find results, heat sheets, photos & sequences, and video coverage of the event and night life by SPoT Productions.

We took off from Santa Cruz on Wednesday afternoon for Santa Barbara. In the SC Skateshop van we had myself, Jordan, Matty Contreres, David Gravette, Taylor Bingaman, Josh Mattson, Brandon Morris, and Daniel Rivera who was comin' in hot by landing a switch front flip 5-0 at the Hubba Hideout a few days before. We hit SB kinda late and as all the kids (and Matty) grabbed blankets and pillows to sleep on Carlos from Church of Skatan's floor we headed out to have a couple of drinks with Brandon, Tony, and Krishna. The slideshow basically starts from there... when we got home to Carlos'.

It ends with something like this>

never mind the trend, here comes the boycotts...
With talks of charging for MySpace, infiltration of porn, and many mixed views on the joys and displeasures of the viral site that boomed out of nowhere a few years ago, it's only inevitable that people are going to start boycotting the site within skateboarding.

The first is Hubba Wheels, the SF based wheel company who fully embraced MySpace by promoting their URL on their ads and in all their marketing materials, was kicked off for their somewhat controversial ads and images on their profile. Gee, who woulda thunk?!
