RELEASE UPDATE - SANTA CRUZ SKATEBOARDS VETERANS DIVISION NEW VIDEO – “V-DAY”

The only thing that’s guaranteed in life is death and taxes…Video deadlines are open to a host of unforeseen dramas that can turn even the best laid plans to shit in seconds.
“Hey Paul, I’ve got bad news, yesterday while filming my last trick for the video I blew out my knee”...E-mail received from Eric Dressen October 5th. This news of Eric’s knee followed news from V-Day senior filmer, Bart Saric, who a few weeks prior broke his collar bone and thumb in a high-speed follow-filming crash while getting Brian Lotti’s interview & footage. The only “good” out of this was Bart was man enough to sacrifice his body to save his camera.

Add to these a frenzy of last minute communication trying to get to the bottom of the music industry’s legal-ease concerning the network of charges paid out to vocalists unions, pensions paid to the estates of dead lead singers, musicians union fees, new use fees and a host of other BS charges and it becomes painfully obvious why most video productions never get legit permission to use music and why scheduled release dates for videos are pointless.
“V-Day will now be released December 1, 2006…the good things in life are worth waiting for. “V-Day” will include a bonus Soundtrack CD featuring “Cacti Widders” (Tom Knox on drums), “The Highway Murderers” owned by Jason Jessee, “The Adolescents”, “The Rabies”, “Excel” and others to make this a must for every skate movie Collectors Library.

"Like, oh my god..
Marius is so hot right now"!

Girls around the world love Marius for his "boyish good looks" amoung other things. He's not the only young skater to win "Skater Boys to Kickflip for" on Alloy's website so if you're a young lady lookin' for a new poster for your wall or a skater guy just curious as hell to see who your competition is, then click here!
Oh and by the way (and I'm quoting Alloy) "Marius is AM (that's amateur for those who aren't in the know)".

1st and Hope
I received an email from Dressen this morning about a new film by Brian Lotti titled "1st and Hope". Dressen and Knox are featured skaters in the movie and it looks like a really sweet movie and everyone must check it out when completed and released. Check out the synopsis on the First and Hope website and for the trailer, click here!
Until it's released, Brian Lotti has organized a 1st & Hope Exhibition in Downtown LA on Saturday, October 21st at Berras Park (690 Myer St. East Bank L.A. River, off the 7th).

The Exhibition will not only feature the "Arts District" version of the movie, it will also feature the works of several downtown area artists (modern painting, printmaking, drawing, photography and sculpture). There will also be a short series of previews for upcoming films created by skateboarders.
Here is a list of Exhibition events for this night:
7:00pm-9:00pm : 1st and Hope exhibition reception (Traction Avenue Chamber Orchestra)
9:00pm-9:45pm : "Arts District" version of "1st and Hope"
10:00pm-12:00am : Skatejam with Blood on the Stereo and Moonrats

TOMMY TIME
As y'all know, Tommy Fynn has been in the states for the last couple months and he even celebrated his 18th birthday while here! TC (NHS rep) invited Tommy to come on over to his backyard ramp and skate with one of SC's local female shredders Kelsea. Here are some photos:
Here's Tommy:

And some Kelsea shots:

And a artsy, night shot of Tommy.

CAROLINO KINGPIN INTERVIEW
While your out skating, you should swing by your local skate shop or mag stand and pick up the October2006 issue of Kingpin.

The mag features 12 page interview with Santa Cruz Pro Alex Carolino.

Lots of sick photos, interesting stories (like how him and fellow SC Pro Flo Marfaing became friends) and great quotes. Here's my personal favorite:
"I just have to feel right before I eat a vegetable".

Alex is probably the coolest, nicest, talented and most sincere skateboarder to date and you owe it to yourself to check this out. Also, heres an image of his newest Santa Cruz pro model titled "Alex in Jungleland" and is part of the Powerply Parody Series:
